The Radiation Chemistry and Environmental Qualification Department at ÚJV Řež arranged the irradiation of cable samples at short notice and provided the results needed for the CERN scientific team’s further work. The testing was designed to confirm whether the material samples could withstand an environment with high radiation exposure.

ÚJV Řež has extensive experience in environmental qualification and cable lifetime management. Its specialists simulate radiation and thermal ageing, carry out mechanical and electrical testing of materials and help verify their reliability under demanding conditions.

“By reliably verifying what a material can withstand, we help our customers plan their next steps safely. For this CERN project, in addition to drawing on our specialist know-how and technological facilities, it was also important to deliver the results in the shortest possible timeframe,” said Ing. Vít Plaček, Head of the Radiation Chemistry and Environmental Qualification Department at ÚJV Řež.

Materials testing and equipment qualification are among ÚJV Řež’s highly specialised services. The combination of advanced laboratories, specialist expertise and the ability to respond quickly to partners’ requirements gives ÚJV Řež a strong position across a range of industrial and research applications. Materials testing and equipment qualification help improve operational safety, extend the service life of technologies and support research that pushes the boundaries of current knowledge.
