ÚJV Řež strengthens its position in Europe’s nuclear power market as Electrabel follows EDF in placing its trust in Czech expertise
The Central Analytical Laboratory of ÚJV Řež (CAL) is further strengthening its position among Europe’s trusted providers of analytical support for the nuclear power sector. Building on its cooperation with France’s EDF, CAL has signed a contract with Electrabel, part of the ENGIE Group. The new contract underlines the international relevance of Czech expertise and confirms CAL’s ability to meet the expectations of leading European nuclear operators.
The agreement with Electrabel, part of the ENGIE Group, follows CAL’s partnership with EDF, operator of France’s nuclear fleet. It marks another important step in CAL’s expansion across the European market and reflects the laboratory’s growing reputation in radiochemistry, physicochemical analyses and the expert interpretation of specialised data.
“Customer expectations have changed significantly in recent years. Today, delivering measurement results alone is no longer enough. Customers need a partner who can understand the wider context, interpret complex data and turn it into conclusions that support real-life operation and decision-making. The trust shown by companies such as EDF and Electrabel, part of the ENGIE Group, confirms that CAL’s expertise meets the standards of even the most demanding customers in the European nuclear power sector,” says Vlastimil Miler, Head of CAL.
As safety, reliability and a detailed understanding of chemical processes become increasingly important in nuclear power, high-quality analytical support is playing a more prominent role. CAL responds to these needs by combining radiochemical expertise, physicochemical analyses and the ability to place results within a broader operational context.
The laboratory continues to develop advanced analytical methods, including the identification of organic substances, degradation products and trace contaminants. This enables CAL to provide customers with more than precise measurements: it offers an expert perspective on the challenges associated with operating nuclear facilities.
The contract with Electrabel, part of the ENGIE Group, is therefore not only further confirmation of CAL’s long-term direction, but also a strong signal that Czech analytical expertise has a firm place among demanding European nuclear power customers.
