ÚJV Řež has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British company Rolls-Royce SMR to further strengthen their collaboration on the deployment of small modular reactor (SMR) technology in the Czech Republic and internationally. The agreement builds on an existing contract covering the analysis, testing and evaluation of critical components and represents a natural next step in the development and construction of Rolls-Royce SMR facilities.

“This collaboration is an exciting opportunity for both Rolls-Royce SMR and ÚJV Řež to deepen their shared experience and expertise in support of the successful deployment of Rolls-Royce SMR technology in the Czech Republic. Under the new memorandum, the two organisations will explore opportunities across a wide range of technical and regulatory areas. These include nuclear safety analysis, design and engineering services, assessment and testing, technical operational support, and regulatory and licensing requirements specific to the Czech Republic.

Building long-term, sustainable relationships with Czech suppliers forms a key part of Rolls-Royce SMR’s strategic partnership with ČEZ, which aims to deploy up to 3 GW of new nuclear generating capacity in the Czech Republic.
Each Rolls-Royce SMR unit will generate 470 MW of reliable, affordable, zero-emission electricity—enough to power around one million households for at least 60 years.
