With deep regrets, we received the news that on Tuesday, 25 July 2023, at the age of 87, passed away forever a distinguished nuclear physicist, a great colleague and a respected mentor, Dr. Milan Brumovský.
His passing brings a great loss not only to his family and loved ones but also to nuclear research, to which he dedicated his entire rich professional life. A world-renowned expert in present nuclear power engineering, one of the fathers of modern methods of reactor pressure vessel lifetime management, winner of a number of international awards and author of many scientific publications.
Until the last few weeks, he was actively involved in the projects of the UJV Řež in the Czech Republic and abroad and passed on his extensive knowledge to younger colleagues. He passed away in the middle of his work, but he brought up a number of high-quality successors who will continue his work and legacy. As a person he is irreplaceable, his colleagues, students and friends will respect and remember him forever.
