Delivering Advanced Containment Pre-Stressing Cable to Rivne Nuclear Power Plant

Thanks to our excellent knowledge of the pre-stressing systems for containments of VVER 1000 type reactors, and our experience in maintaining pre-stressed tendons on the Temelín containment, we met the strict requirements for the production and assembly of a new cable in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. After the production documentation was approved by the Ukrainian nuclear regulator, the new cable was dispatched from the Czech Republic to the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant on 3 April. Ukrainian capacities for this type of production have been significantly affected by the ongoing conflict, and ÚJV Řež thus remains one of the few suppliers in the world capable of handling such a task. The system of pre-stressed tendons, which reinforces the reinforced concrete containment, is one of the key safety features of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, as well as many other units of the same type in Ukraine.
