Under a contract signed between KHNP and ÚJV Řež, ENERGOPROJEKT Praha (part of the UJV Group) will support the permitting and licensing processes. The agreement represents a significant step in the preparation of the New Nuclear Source at Dukovany (NJZ EDU) and confirms the strategic partnership between the Czech and Korean industries.
Smooth and timely progress of the legislative preparation for EDU II
Under the contract, ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA will provide expert consultancy services related to the Czech legislative framework, particularly in the areas of the Building Act, the Atomic Act, the requirements of the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB), and other administrative processes, including specific requirements of the Czech regulatory environment and risk management in the field of licensing and safety analyses. The aim of the cooperation is to ensure the efficient, transparent, and timely progress of the permitting and licensing processes.

“Today’s signing marks an important start to the cooperation between ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA of the UJV Group and KHNP. Our long-standing experience in design and permitting processes is valuable to the Korean side; this experience is essential for the preparation of the EDU II power plant to ensure it proceeds in accordance with Czech legislation and current international best practice,” commented Martin Ruščák, CEO of ÚJV Řež, on the signing of the contract.

“We highly value our cooperation with ÚJV, given the experience and professional standing of its experts. From the beginning, we have clearly stated that we see plenty of opportunities for cooperation with Czech partners, even in highly specialised areas of nuclear technology with the highest added value. The contract signed today is one of the first steps on this path for us, and others will certainly follow,” said Insik Park, Executive Vice President of KHNP for Overseas Projects.
The involvement of EGP and the UJV Group significantly contributes to strengthening the role of domestic industry in the implementation of the project. It supports the transfer of know-how and the exchange of professional expertise between Czech and Korean specialists in the field of nuclear energy. For KHNP, cooperation with a local partner represents an important element in reducing regulatory risks and ensuring effective communication with Czech institutions and authorities.
