The Nuclear Research Institute Řež plc has implemented and continuously upgraded the Integrated Management System as required in the generally applicable regulations and international standards, namely in EN ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management System); EN ISO 3834-2 (system of Quality Assurance in welding); EN ISO 14001:2004 (Environment Management System) and OHSAS 18001:2008 (Occupational Safety Management System).

The company's management systems have been audited for their proper implementation and application by TÜV NORD Czech, an independent certification agency, and based on the successful audit results the agency granted certificates for these lines of business:

  • research & development jobs, analyses, expert reviews and services in nuclear technologies, power engineering and industry, including solutions to nuclear safety, radiation protection, the use of ionizing radiation, and providing reactor-related services;
  • research, development and manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals;
  • designing and engineering activities; deliveries for major construction projects;

The certificates are good for these facilities: Řež, Prague, Vyskočilova Str. (ENERGOPROJEKT PRAHA); the Na Homolce Hospital, Prague (PET Center) and the Masaryk Institute of Oncology, Brno (PET Center).

The systems are annually validated in follow-up audits for proper performance and use.

The certifications are to prove to our business and other partners that we not only proceed in a qualified and effective manner when pursuing the technically demanding and responsible activities related to the research, development and implementation of the projects, but that we also endeavor, as best achievable, to protect the environment and keep the employees and visitors out of harm's way.

Quality assurance of processes and products applied in the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals is regularly scrutinized by the State Institute for Drug Control, an institution issuing a "Certificate of Proper Practice in Producing Medical Preparations"; a "Certificate of Proper Practice in Producing Medical Substances"; and a "Certificate of Proper Laboratory Practice".

The accreditation criteria defined in EN ISO / EC 17025 and required to be applied to test and determine the selected mechanical / physical & chemical / electrical / radiation and other characteristics of materials are documented as fulfilled by the "Certificate of Accreditation" granted by the Czech Accreditation Institute for:

  • Testing Laboratory for structural properties and corrosion
  • Testing Laboratory for mechanical properties
  • Testing Laboratory for radiation chemistry and environment qualification
  • Central Analytical Laboratory
  • Calibrating Laboratory - temperatures & pressures

System of Quality Assurance implemented in the use of nuclear power and ionizing radiation and designed to meet the requirements of generally applicable regulations has been described in the Quality Assurance Programs and the related control documents. With all the requirements satisfied, the Government watchdog agency - the State Office for Nuclear Safety - grants a permission to pursue activities in radiation protection, nuclear safety and radwaste management.
